About
Boris Vesselinov is a Los Angeles based writer and director originally from Dallas, Texas.
His stories often take place in tense historical settings, from Revolutionary America to a record-breaking 1960s submarine.
He enjoys writing young leads torn within their times — a pilot coming face-to-face with his enemy, a mariner seeking to break the world depth record, an American colonial spy struggling with her role. He finds it easy to identify with these characters based on the challenges of recent history.
Boris’ work includes a short film starring David Mazouz and Aoi Takeya, and two feature screenplays selected as Academy Nicholl Fellowship Quarterfinalists (2022 and 2023). He has also qualified for a 2024 Oscar in the Live-Action Short category with “Sunless”.
He is a first-generation American, originally from Bulgaria. He enjoys showing international perspectives in his work.
